There are many things you can do to keep the intimacy in your marriage alive. Dating is one of the key ways to do that. It is crucial to get off alone with your lover.
When kids hit the scene and life gets busy, it can be challenging to get out together. That is why at-home date nights are helpful to keep connected with your spouse. Here are some things you can do to put together a successful at-home date night.
Set a Specific Date
Like any night you plan to go out, you need to set a specific night to have your date. Do everything you can to keep the date you set. Sometimes things happen, but consider the time you set aside the same way you would for a date out.
Come Up With a Plan
Decide ahead of time what you plan to do with each other during your date. If there is a specific movie you want to see, a board game you want to play, or other activities, decide it ahead of time. Get everything together before the night starts, so you don’t have to spend time gathering supplies. And there’s so many ideas you can use, both inside and outside the house. Stargazing in the backyard and just laying in peace next to each other is one of my favorite activities with my spouse.
Agree on What to Wear
If you were going out with your spouse, you would likely dress up for them. Even though you are at home, wear something that looks nice. This is an excellent opportunity to wear sexy clothes you wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing out.
Ahead of time, plan together that you will both dress in a way the other will appreciate. You can go as far as picking out the clothes for one another.
Sit in a Different Spot in Your Home
Most couples spend their night sitting on the couch before bed. Or maybe they sit in the bed together to watch television. On your date night, go to a different part of the house to spend the night. Consider sitting at your kitchen table, heading outside, or set up a special place to sit on the floor.
End With Sex
One of the best reasons to schedule at-home date nights is the convenience of ending with sex. And that can actually be one of the things you schedule to do during your night. Consider bringing in a bedroom game or sex toys to spice things ups.
Couples that invest time in each other through purposeful dates are much happier than those that do not. It is vital to the health of your marriage that you set aside time with the one you love. And sometimes after a long, stressful date. Nothing beats lying next to my spouse and just snuggling.
