A Healthy Diet Gives You A Happy Home

I’ve worked hard to teach my kids what a healthy diet looks like. We have modeled it for them for years. I am positive that their meals have contributed to their good health.

I invited Debray Jackson on to share with us a few reasons why a healthy diet makes for a happy home. She gives some tips on how to do that.

Did you know diet impacts mood? It’s true and if you’re eating food high in fat or sugar or your kids are, you can bet there are going to be a lot of arguments in the house. You might also find that an unhealthy diet makes those terrible teenage years a lot worse.

Did you know diet impacts mood? It’s true and if you’re eating food high in fat or sugar or your kids are, you can bet there are going to be a lot of arguments in the house. You might also find that an unhealthy diet makes those terrible teenage years a lot worse.

A poor diet can cause mood swings and may even increase chances of depression. The best way to avoid this problem is to make sure your kids and your entire family is eating healthy at home. So, let’s think about some of the best ways to incorporate healthy living into your kitchen.

Go Gluten Free

Whether or not you believe that gluten allergies actually exist, there is no denying the benefits of a gluten free home. You’ll find that bowel movements occur regularly and you never suffer that nasty feeling of being clogged with food and waste. You might even find that you feel less stressed through your day.

Don’t forget anything good for the body is also probably good for the mind. It’s easy to go on a gluten free diet, and there are lots of healthy alternatives to the typical food that you might have been eating. For instance, you can still eat cakes. You just need to make them with gluten free baking powder.

We think you’ll be thrilled with the results that a gluten-free diet can bring in your household. It’s a lot easier to be cheerful when you aren’t constantly constipated.

Grind Your Own Meat

You wouldn’t believe how much rubbish and chemicals are put into processed meat. In some cases, it’s to change the taste. In others, it’s to mask the scent of produced meat, or it might even be due to the machinery and processes that’s used to make it.

If you grind your own meat, you can avoid it and instead buy it straight from the butchers. The best meat grinder will be automatic. So, you can put it in, and it will do all the work for you. When you try grinding meat, it won’t just be better for you. It might also taste better too because it will have a natural flavor.

Choose The Healthier Option

There are plenty of options in cooking where you can choose the healthier option and you should. An example would be when cooking a food that goes well with rice or pasta. Which one is better for you? Rice is the healthier option because it isn’t packed full of carbs. If you do want to stick with pasta, you can try whole-wheat spaghetti. This is far better for you as well.

Healthy Desserts

You don’t have to cut deserts out of your home to keep your family healthy. But you might want to try to mix the deserts up a little. For instance, how about a banana split after dinner?

Forget adding chocolate into the mix and instead put fruit in the middle of the banana with a dollop of ice cream on top. This will be a healthy treat for your family, and it will still taste delicious.

As you can see then, there are lots of ways to make your kitchen healthier, and this is sure to give you a happier home.
