When Life is Hard Scream Into Your Pillow
|You: Keelie, my life is hard right now. I don’t know what to do.
Me: I’m sorry. Here’s what you should do. Get your pillow, put it up to your mouth, and scream. Scream and yell as much as you can.
You: What? Why?
Me: Didn’t you say your life was hard right now?
You: Yes, but I thought you were going to say something uplifting….like, it’ll get better, or don’t give up.
Me: I could tell you those things, but that won’t help you feel better. What will help you feel better is having a screaming fit in your pillow. The things you are going through right now really stinks.
Don’t shy away from being angry and upset. You aren’t wrong to get upset with the injustices of life.
I’m not going to tell you what you are going through will be alright. Right now, you don’t even want to hear me say that. Honestly, I don’t know if it will be ok. I can’t even make that promise.
It’s ok to get your anger out about the things going on in your life. Own it. Get mad. Get your pillow. Yell. Scream. Punch. Cry.
I have totally done this! Sometimes life gets to be too much and all I am able to do is scream into my pillow. I don’t think it’s healthy to just keep everything pent up but there are some ways to let it out that are more acceptable than others. 😉
