It’s been a long time since I planned a wedding, but I’ve been at some that have been simply amazing. I invited Cheryl Liven on to share with us some of her best tips.
Here’s what she has to say-
There is an enormous amount of pressure on couples to create an unforgettable wedding day. While this should be a day of celebration and happiness – and rightly remains so – the guests are becoming more and more demanding. They want something to entertain them. Your guests have traveled a long way to be there on your special day, so it seems only fair to give them some fun. But there’s more to it than just fun.
You’ve certainly been invited to a wedding before. It becomes important to create your own wedding arrangement so that you can make it stand out, for your own sake as well as for your guests. Make it unique, surprise them and defy all their expectations with these little tips.
A Breathtaking Wedding Theme
It’s no wonder that more and more couples are looking for attractive wedding themes: The meringue dress wedding might be traditional, but it’s been overdone. After all, people are quick to judge a wedding ceremony, so if you don’t want to hear that your cousin had a better dress, you may want to look at themes.
Thankfully, a themed weddings could be selecting a range of colors to fit the décor and the bridal wear, such as gray and pink, champagne and blush, or even plum and lilac inspirations.
Organizing a themed wedding means that you need to keep your guests informed about your choice so that they can adjust to it. The best way is to write it clearly in the invitation. But in the long run, this can make it a lot easier to choose and decorate your venue.
An Extraordinary Venue
Choosing your venue is always a little tricky. Unless you decide to hire a castle, it may be difficult to find something unique. However, what matters is to discuss with the organizer your requirements for the indoor & outdoor event venue. The size of the party, the theme and the season will help you decide on the best venue for your wedding. Additionally, you can also discuss different reception packages as you pick your venue.
As materialistic as it may sound, the price is key in picking the right venue. But in the end, what makes a venue stand out for guest rely on three factors: It is isolated enough for the reception to be undisturbed but it remains easy to reach; the décor brings it to life; the venue has all the facilities they need.
Catering To Die For
Surprisingly enough, most guests tend to judge a wedding by the food they are being served. So, while it may not be easy to plan for a luxury meal for a large party, you can certainly consider exciting cocktails to welcome your guests.
If you have selected a playful wedding theme, why not use chocolate milkshake served with a dash of rum? You know your guests will love the boozy surprise! Finally, impress your guests with a cake that can blow their minds. If you are going for a DIY cake, you can be as creative as you want, from baking an Alien cake to an inspiring fish tank design.
Quirky Guests Favors
Guest favors are part of every traditional wedding ceremony. But there’s nothing that says that you can’t be a little playful with favors. After all, your guests deserve a treat too. If you are up for a flowery theme, pick transparent lollipops with edible flowers to make a real impact.
If you want to make the day live forever in their memory, why not choose something that they could use over and over again, like a scented candles? You can even find a Wedding Day scent! Or maybe you are feeling inspired and you want to give them the soundtrack of your special day? In short, your imagination is the limit.
A Professional-Looking Wedding Dance
Couples are generally expected to open the dance floor with their first dance. But the modern trends have caught up with the wedding ceremony, and you can find now plenty of wedding dances to die for. You can find groomsmen, bridesmaid, and even groom’s or bride’s parents taking over the dance floor with unexpected moves and fantastic choreography. Of course, nobody is a professional dancer. Who cares as long as you’ve got fun?
Bonus points are given for dances that include young children because they are simply cute – even cuter than the bride. But it works just as well if you’ve got the entire wedding party working on a dance number, such as Thriller. You know that your guests won’t forget the wedding day!
Get The Wedding Pary Behind It With A Super Speech
Speaking about getting your wedding party involved, you can have a word about the speeches with your bridesmaids and groomsmen. Wedding speeches have the unfortunate tendency to be well-intended but incredibly dull past the first couple of minutes.
This is because people have a low attention span at parties. But have a look at what this bridesmaid has done. She’s entirely rapped her speech on Ice Ice Baby, which is guaranteed to keep your guests entertained. As a rule of the thumb, speeches should be short and sweet, so her short 5 min rap are absolutely ideal for the day.
Unique Wedding Vows
Marriage vows are not specifically old-fashioned, but couples want to recite promises to each other that reflect the kind of relationship that they strive. For example, a real-life couple made the following vow: I promise to grab your butt even when you’re old and wrinkly.
Under the humor hides a deep truth about keeping the spark alive even in older years of the relationship. In another marriage, a partner vows to continue to love the other partner’s children as if they were their own. With more 4 in 10 Americans having at least one step relative in their family, it’s important that your vow reminds your partner that this is not just one person you choose to take, but one family.
