10 Little Things That Make a Huge Difference in Your Marriage

We’ve been married since 2003, and there are many things that I have learned that will make a big difference in your marriage. The little things you do each day can add up to impactful bonding between you and your spouse.

little things to help your marriage

1. Say Thank You

I’ve been so amazed at how saying a simple thank you can be in your marriage. Every day, find something to be thankful for and tell your spouse about it. They need to know that you are grateful for them.

2. Kiss Goodbye and Hello

Whether you are coming or going, you should kiss your spouse. It helps you to connect and takes little time to do so.

3. Really Listen to The Other

It is so important to listen to the other person. It doesn’t take long to stop and hear what they’re saying, but it is vital to keeping your relationship strong.

4. Be Kind

Instead of saying mean things to one another, be kind. Simple courtesies will keep you going strong. When you are mean to each other, you destroy one another.

5. Go On Dates

Take the time to date your spouse. Without getting away on your own, you will not be able to connect on a deeper level. You need to retreat within each other and get away from the world. There are all kinds of things you can do together, here’s a list of ideas to get you started.

6. Put Your Phone Down

Limiting tech time wasn’t a piece of marriage advice that older generations needed, but our generation needs it desperately. You need to put your phone down more and focus on one another.

7. Encourage Each Other

Take a few minutes out of your day to encourage one another. You can text each other, or you can come up with different ways of being encouraging.

8. Offer to Help The Other

We could all use a little help now and again. Why not take the time to help your spouse with something they are struggling with. Try picking up an extra task or chore that is their responsibility.

9. Be Respectful

It is so important to be respectful to each other. Please don’t put them down in front of others, speak harshly to them, or do anything that will cause disrespect to your spouse.

10. Have Sex

Having sex is not a little thing, but it is so important to do that. You have to take time to be with one another intimately, or you will suffer tremendously.

Keeping your marriage thriving helps you to stay happy and enjoy your life more. I hope these little things make a big difference in your marriage. Just stick with it, and over time, you’ll see significant gains in your relationship.
