Over the last week, we’ve had both our vehicles in the shop, our oven go out, our water heater die, and our heat go out. It’s been discouraging to have so many repairs and expenses come up, but God is providing.
Fortunately, we were able to get our hot water heater replaced a few hours before the heat went out. This morning, a dear family from church blessed us with a small space heater and a porch full of wood. It’s been frustrating, but there is so much for me to be thankful for.
Austin is so sweet. In the midst of all this crap and frustration, he set up a place for us to eat our lunch in a warm spot in the house. He cut on some jazz music and we took a break from the madness.
While we sat there, I thought about how important it is to take retreat into your spouse. Even when life is raging around you with all of its crap, you can find ways to take mini breaks with your lover. If it is just a few minutes in front of the fire while you eat a meal or at the table with a cup of coffee, you will feel refreshed.
Instead of allowing yourselves to get so wrapped up in everything, find small ways to take a break from the things that stresses you. Doing this as a couple is a great way to keep the connections strong.
