Things You Can Do To Prepare Your Kitchen For Holiday Cooking

Things you can do to prepare your kitchen for holiday cooking

Thanksgiving is only a few days away and you know what that means? It is time to thaw out your turkey and get your kitchen ready for preparing a big meal.

Today, I have invited Julia Jones from the Kitchen Gadget Wars to give us a few cleaning tips on how to make sure your kitchen is ready for the day.

Here’s what she has to say:

Holidays are coming and everyone is excited about decorating their home and getting ready for that family friendly atmosphere that makes us warm inside! Shopping for gifts and decoration is all fun and at the same time, exhausting, let’s be realistic. But what about your kitchen?

Everyone knows that once the holidays are coming, all the family gathers around for presents, drink and… food. So basically, for the next few weeks, your kitchen will be your best friend.

It can all get a little stressful and instead of feeling overwhelmed, better get organized! Your kitchen will likely be your best friend during this period of time and also the place where your guests are going to spend time. Make sure your kitchen is ready to take on guests and food in order to prevent damage and major cleanup later, because, really, who want’s that?

You can start by cleaning the refrigerator – which is obviously going to be used a lot during the big meal, constantly opened and closed and of course, filled with food. Make sure the door handles, clean the cold air vents and make sure you check the lights and replace them if they are not working properly!

Another thing that should be cleaned, fresh and smell like new is, of course, your oven. Where all the magic happens. Don’t wait until it’s too late to start cleaning and fixing the oven, because if you do it in a rush you might not do it right and you could really cause a big mess and ruin your magic recipe.

Also make sure to clean the microwave, too, even if you don’t think it could be used so much by your guests. You can never know when someone might want to warm up their food and see a dirty microwave, that would be embarrassing!

I assume I don’t even have to mention about disinfecting the trash cans or about making sure your dishwasher works perfectly fine, because the dishwasher might also become your new best friend during this period of year!

Last but not least, double or even triple check your safety mechanism. It’s more likely that children will also be around a lot, especially in the kitchen, so make sure everything is safe and childproof.

You could also set aside a special place in the kitchen for kids to hang out while the adults are preparing or cooking the dinner, since they most likely would want to assist. Make sure the smoke detector is also working just fine and do not forget about placing the fire extinguisher somewhere it can be seen by everyone.

But of course, nothing can make a kitchen ready for holidays like a kitchen full! So make sure you buy everything you need in time, acquire every single kitchen gadget you might need and start thinking about some secret recipes and that will blow your guest’s mind!

Happy holidays everyone! Enjoy your time with your family and make the most of it.
