After my last son was born, I was bigger than I had ever been in my life. I weighed in at 175. I was so discouraged, because losing weight was something I had never been successful at.
Ever since I was 13 I weighed 150. No matter what I did to lose weight as a teenager, it didn’t work. Since I wasn’t successful when I was younger, I felt I would be doomed to this new size for the rest of my life.
I started counting calories about 4 years ago, and lost 30 pounds over the course of 8 months. The smallest I went down to was 148. I’d never been that little.
I thought I was done losing weight, because I stopped getting smaller about 2 years ago. However, 2 months ago, I made some other radical changes to my diet that has resulted in me losing another 10 pounds, taking me down to 138.
I share all of this to say that the changes have happened so so slowly. Losing 1 pound a week doesn’t look like much, but over the course of time, it makes a HUGE difference.
That is how it is with all of life. When you are in the thick of it, chipping away at your goals a little at a time, it doesn’t seem like you are accomplishing much. I encourage you to take a look back at where you started and where you are today. It doesn’t seem like much in the moment, but in hindsight it will truly shock you.
