Whats making me happy this weeke

If you didn’t know, I’m currently reading the book, The Happiness Dare by Jennifer Dukes Lee. I’ve been challenged to take the Happiness Dare and look around for the things that make me happy.

These are some of the things that have made me happy this past week.

Lunch With My Husband

Eating lunch with my husband

This is Austin’s and my breakfast and lunch table for most days. We specifically bought this table just for us to eat at together. In fact, it’s off limits to the kids. This is a place that makes me happy. I’m so thankful to share this space with my husband.

Great Thrift Stores

I had a chance to go to the local thrift store and take advantage of a bag sale. If you didn’t know, most of what I wear comes from the thrift store or it is given to me. The same things goes for our kids and to a lesser extent for Austin.

It makes me very happy that I am able to afford to clothe my family, reduce waste, and help local causes that are dear to my heart. One thrift store that I shop at benefits the schools here and the other benefits a food pantry that is right down the street from my house.

Pretty Jewelry From My Husband

New jewelry

This year, Austin has given me some very pretty jewelry. When I went to a business conference back in May he gave me this watch I’m wearing. For our anniversary, he bought me an anniversary band. The necklace and earrings I’m wearing, he gave me yesterday for my up coming trip to New York for The Media and The City event.

It makes me happy that he’s studied me so much over the years that he can confidently buy me jewelry he knows I’m going to like.

I plan to continue posting for the happiness dare for the rest of this coming week. The book is available for ordering, so if you want to learn more about it, be sure to check it out on Amazon.

  1. I haven’t read The Happiness Dare yet, but I’ve been hearing about it from everybody. Maybe I need to read it, too! And I also love thrifting… I like to go get books for my kids at thrift stores. I also homeschool, and good books are a must, but there’s not really extra money in the budget for a lot of books right now. But I’ve found some really great ones for a dollar at the thrift store! 🙂 Blessings and grace, Tasha

    1. I’m really enjoying the happiness dare. 🙂 It’s been good for me.

I find books at the thrift store here too. They usually run $0.25 unless they are having a bag sale. It is cheaper to go there and buy book then to drive to the nearest library and check them out.

I’m buying homeschool curriculum now. It is so pricey as they get older in grades. I’m doing everything I can to get it off of ebay for cheap and used!
